Restant invaincu pour sa 3e tentative, le 3 ans Life is Good a réalisé une démonstration impressionnante en remportant le San Felipe Stakes (Gr.2) à Santa Anita, de bout en bout par 8 longueurs sous la selle de Mike Smith. Il succède au palmarès à Authentic, autre pensionnaire de Bob Baffert qui avait ensuite remporté la Triple Couronne américaine. Fils de la nouvelle star Into Mischief, élevé par Gary et Mary West, Life is Good présente un modèle surpuissant. Ce petit neveu de Diamondrella (2xGr.1) a été acheté $ 525.000 yearling à Keeneland par le China Horse Club et Winstar Farm. Il offre à son jockey Mike Smith l'occasion de remporter à nouveau une grande course à l'âge de... 56 ans !
