André Pommerai is in the first instance a cattle and cereal farmer, with a 200 hectare establishment on the rich land of Mayenne, but he has been breeding horses for 20 years.
He has always been involved in horses in this racing and breeding region, notably alongside his father who was an owner. He has no purchasing policy for his horses, and tends to acquire broodmares just by chance.
He occasionally sells his produce but more often than not he races them in partnership with trainers, principally local handlers Norbert Leenders and David Chevrollier.
André Pommerai had great success as the owner of Joyau Star, which he raised as the horse was brought to him at 2 days old§ Joyau Star won 6 races and was one of the best AQPS flat horses of his generation. André Pommerai has kept his sister by Freedom Cry, Reste Star, as a broodmare. He is the owner/breeder of decent handicapper Dreever and has his sister Palmossa as a broodmare.
His best horse currently is the good chaser Tomeho, 2nd in the Gr 3 Grand Steeple-Chase de Cagnes. André Pommerai was given Tomeho's granddam Toundra by a friend and kept one of her daughters, Takqualine, who gave birth to two foals including Tomeho.
Today André Pommerai breeds from another bloodline with Lyss'Mee, an AQPS by Video Rock, whose first offspring Phis de Mee showed talent on the track and has now produced a 2YO by Kapgarde and a Network yearling.
