Since his father acquired the Haras du Thenney when he was just ten, Giulo Riva has been closely involved in the stud. Alongside his activities and success in equestrianism, the Milan-born breeder has also excelled on the racecourse and at in the sales ring where he has achieved a top price of 7.6 million francs.

The stud is the birthplace of Linamix's sire Mendez and has housed well-known stallions such as Nadjar, Rusticaro, Brustolon, and more recently Midyan, sire of Mid Dancer.
More recently Giulo Riva has invested in Gentlewave and Orpen, and took a chance when buying Diableneyev just after the success of Hélios Quercus from his first crop. The first Thenney-born crop of Diableneyev's progeny had promising results in 2008.
