Maxime Cottin was for many years the manager of the famous breeding operation of Georges Vuillard, source of champions such as Or Jack, Sleeping Jack, Grey Jack and Line Marine. After the owner's death, the stock was dispersed but Maxime Cottin decided to take on some of the land to launch his own activity last year.
The Haras de la Sâne is located in the East of the Saone et Loire region and its land is composed of riverside pastures which are enriched during the winter by the floods of the river Sâne.
The 50-hectare wood-fenced stud has 19 stables including 5 foaling boxes and produces its own hay and straw.
Maxime Cottin took on his first stallion, Merlino Mago, when he set out in 2008 and he has now been replaced by Fairly Ransom and Northen Park. He has four broodmares from Vuillard families and offers all types of breeding services and board.
