Bernebeau leaves the South West to join the Haras de Grand'Cour
Bernebeau, whose first crop are 4yo and include a number of good winners under both codes in Paris, is to leave the Haras des Grandes to spend 2010 in Normandy at Fabrice Besnouin's Haras de Grand'Cour.
A son of Green Tune, the André Fabre-trained Bernebeau was one of France's best middle distance performers from age 2 to 4yo. Runner-up to Rock of Gibraltar in the Gr 1 Grand Criterium, then winner of the Gr 3 Prix Daphnis, he had begun his stud career at the Haras du Berlais in 2004, before Jean-Marc Lucas stopped his stallion ativities. Bernebeau now has three generations of racing age.
Bernebeau
He may not be a headline sire, but he is consistent and very effective. In 2009, Bernebeau has not yet sired any black-type performers but has already produced plenty of Quinté handicap winners at Parisian tracks, such as Galixi or Dam d'Augy. He has also shone at Auteuil with Zeppa and in the provinces with Misebeau, Cavadoro, La Masai, Balnéa. He has also sired juveniles Fairy Sky and Lufki Ruffian. In 2008, he was successful with Amor Amor and Jumeirah Queen. These results are most creditable when considering that Bernebeau's books of mares have not exceeded 30 partners. Recently, Bernebeau has registered victories with Vénus du Berlais over hurdles at Compiègne, Shining Sun on the flat at Lyon-la-Soie, and Speed de Bellevue over hurdles at Argentan, so he is a most versatile sire.
His pedigree offers a cross between his dam's sire Highest Honor, and paternal grandsire Green Dancer. Bernebeau will stand alongside Limnos at the Haras de Grand'Cour in the Orne region, after the departure of Sèvres Rose to the Quesnay.
