There is only a tiny from Chantilly to Maisons-Laffitte. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the double XXIe siècle, l’axe Prix du Bois/Prix Robert Papin seems to be the key. Winners of Gr.3, the two Pascal Bary representatives, Divine Proportions and Much Faster, as well as Yann Barberot's colt Family One, succeeded in the double two week slater in the Gr.2. The Papin winners Irish Field, Boccassini and Zipping were placed in the Prix du Bois. Entered on Sunday, Vedeux (Bois winner on 30th June) and Another Party (runner up to Vedeux at Chantilly) will take part of the race hoping to match with history. The italian contest, Premio Primi Passi also produced Papin winners in 2000-2012 (Lui Rei, Rolly Polly). Second in the italian Groupe 3, Omaticaya will try to do the same. The Prix Yacowlef helped Special Duty to come to the race in great form in 2009 as well as New Girlfriend in 2005. Pascal Bary kept Make It Reel, runner up in this listed this year, entered in the race up to mid week, when he took him out.

There is no mystery. The Prix Robert Papin is the best prep race for Deauville , Prix Morny. Twelve of the last Groupe 2 winners (Never A Doubt never ran again after her success in 2002) took their chance in the first juvenile classic of the program. Two of them (Reckless Abandon and Divine Proportions) won and five others (Family One, Special Duty, Natagora, Much Faster and Zipping) were second.

In 2012, the english contestant Reckless Abandon, riddn by Gérald Mossé, managed the double Papin-Morny before succeeding in the Middle Park Stakes in UK

Lets just note that most of the Papin winners ran in Newmarket in little later in the season. Runners up in August in the Morny, Special Duty and Natagora won the Cheveley Park Stakes as compensation. Double winner of the Papin / Morny, Reckless Abandon completed his records by a victory in the Middle Park Stakes (Zipping was second to Johannesburg in 2001).
