Sires and 2014 classic entries (2nd part)

2014/02/21 - Main News
Ubiquitous in classis reserved to colts, Galileo does also very well in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and Prix de Diane. Only Shamardal can put him in the shade in the « Poule » in tight rankings . Very popular in our first part, Le Havre confirms his status in the french fleet as most represented in fillies classics.

For the second year in a row, the fight for the first place in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches is tight. Just like New Approach and Danehill Dancer in 2013, Shamardal ends up with 7 representatives including the Aga Khan Balansiya after her brilliant debuts, and only race at Leopardstown. Sharing 2nd spot with Oasis Dream, Dansili and Dubawi, Galito go for the double Poule d’Essai des Pouliches/Prix de Diane won by Golden Lilac in 2011. Flag bearers for « Le Havre », Avenir Certain and La Hoguette, both trained by Jean-Claude Rouget (trainer of their sire) flawless since their debuts, will carry all the hopes received last year.

Can Sinnamary turn classic in 2014? The daughter of Galileo won Prix de la Chapelle in 2013 for La Marquesa de Moratalla. She has since been purchased by Qatar Racing Limited (Photo APRH)

Not surprisingly, Galileo dominates all debates in the Prix de Diane with 12 candidates. Beside Sinnamary mentioned above, the unraced filly Faufiler, trained by Pascal Bary, offers a top of the range pedigree being out of Six Perfections, winner of Prix Marcel Boussac/Prix Jacques Le Marois. Dansili ends up with 8 entries including the attractive Miss France, Gr.3 laureate in Newmarket for André Fabre and daughter of Miss Tahiti, 2nd 1996 Prix de Diane , and Shemya, granddaughter to Shemaka, winner of 1993 Prix de Diane. Sea The Stars shares the second spot. The Aga Khan Studs stallion appoints  Zarshana, sister to the exeptional Zarkava and Rip Roaring whom dam, Nebraska Tornado, succeeded in the 2003 Prix de Diane.
